It is a good sign for firefighters as the “Sheep Fire”, that burns west of the Interstate 15,  is now getting attacked as firefighters get help from the cold temperatures. The Sheep Fire started at 2 PM Saturday afternoon and quickly spread. By that night it charred a few thousand acres and forced many out of their homes. This fire then turned northwest and currently threatens the famous ski spot, Wrightwood, California. The good sign is that the firefighters are getting the “upper hand” on this blaze which is now 7,500 acres contained at 20%. This fire destroyed 3 homes and has injured at least one firefighter. This brings up a different point…Why are there so many major wildfires in the month of October? Looking back at in history, 2003 and 2007 were the worst fire years so far since 2000 but every year there has been a major fire like this one.

With the Moorpark and this now Sheep Fire this looks like a rough month for Southern California’s people and wildlife.
