Rush Limbaugh out as a potential NFL owner but who wins?
Whether you like him or hate him, multi-millionaire Rush Limbaugh has been prevented from investing his money as a partial owner of the St. Louis Rams. Based upon some purported comments made by Rush on an unidentified “blog” many jumped on the band wagon to preclude Rush from spending his money on St. Louis or any NFL team for that matter. Funny thing was that the purported comments were never verified and couldn’t be located when mainstream media went looking for them making those outlets look just plain silly for reporting on unsubstantiated “news”.
What is of interest, is the fact that many conservatives have had their Wikipedia profile’s tampered with. You may, or may not know, that Wikipedia has the availability for the general public to change content on the site. While Wikipedia tries to keep up with all the changes, it is clear that they were either unable to (or unwilling to) verify and change unsubstantiated content concerning certain conservatives.
On Friday it was reported that the alleged content changes came from the same IP number which serves as an internet gateway for a New York Law Firm called Patterson Belknap Webb and Tyler. This law firm has many interests including promotion of gay/lesbian interests, women interests and attorneys of color. It has wide and varied practice areas including white collar crime defense, anti-trust, securities, entertainment and media, intellectual property, and sports. A full viewing of their website can be found at: http://www.pbwt.com/
It should be noted that while PBWT holds the IP address that serves as the gateway for the questionable postings, the possibility exists that no one at that firm may be responsible for the content. For instance, a hacker may be using that gateway to spread the information. The origin of the postings will be something that Rush and the others will need to prove through the legal process should they choose to do so.
In the meantime, is it fair that someone is preempted from realizing their dream whatever it might be, due to some unfounded postings on an internet blog? What do you think?
